/ IN THE BEAR FORESTS

We explore remote forests rich in biodiversity, which are home to some of Europe’s rarest predators, such as wolves, brown bears, wild cats and the rare Eurasian lynx.

We will explore at least three different locations, maximizing the chances of sighting thanks to the best hides available, reserved exclusively for our group. With a little luck, we will be able to dedicate a session to the Ural Owl, following its nocturnal activities in the Slovenian forests.

A professional photographer will be by your side throughout the workshop, ready to help you capture the perfect image you are looking for. This event, being a nature photography workshop, will guarantee that you always have assistance from a photographic and environmental point of view, where experts will share secrets, experiences and techniques acquired in the field over the years.

This workshop will not only be a simple photographic experience, but an unforgettable adventure in the wilderness and a unique opportunity to learn, photographing alongside professional photographers.

This itinerary includes 6 high-quality photo sessions. Based on the activity of the animals, being in nature, we will decide whether to spend all 6 sessions inside the photographic hides dedicated to the Brown bear immersed in the forest, guaranteeing a variety of shots from different angles and locations, or to carry out the morning sessions in a beautiful hide with a water hole, where we will be able to capture rare species of birds and small mammals.

1. Photographic hides: We will visit several locations immersed in the forest, where there are wooden photo hides dedicated to the observation and photography of the brown bear in its natural environment. We will also have the opportunity to take photos from a hide with a water hole dedicated to small mammals and avifauna.

2. Photographic Assistance: You will receive assistance in capturing detailed images in a natural environment. Experienced photographers will guide you in choosing the perfect shots and give you advice on how to make the most of natural light.

3. Theoretical lessons: In addition to the practical sessions, there will also be theoretical lessons. Experienced photographers will share their tips and tricks to get amazing shots, from the moment of the shot to an editing lesson, as well as provide in-depth information about the biology and behavior of the animals we will encounter.

This workshop will allow you to improve your photographic skills and live an experience in nature with other people who share your passions, creating a unique connection with the forests of Slovenia and the animals that inhabit it.

Hide photography is the ideal method to capture images of wild animals without interfering with their natural habits.

The hides we have selected have been specially designed to ensure maximum comfort during photo sessions, as well as maximizing the chances of sighting. They are in fact equipped with advanced systems to eliminate odors, isolate the environment acoustically and use special glass that ensures visual isolation from the outside.

Inside the hides, we will be able to use photographic heads placed in pre-built housing. Thanks to the large side windows, we will have the opportunity to observe the outside without being noticed by wild animals. This means that in addition to capturing extraordinary photographs, we will be able to enjoy the spectacle of nature just a few steps away, without disturbing the animals in their environment.

DAY 1 – AIRPORT – HOTEL

05.00 PM: Meeting in Ljubljana-Brnik airport and transfer to the facility where we will be staying.
N.B. If you prefer, you can reach the meeting point directly with a flight/car from your country
06.3o PM: Accommodation in the hotel of all the participants and presentation of the event. Here the tour leader will introduce the locations illustrating the best photographic techniques to be used in each hide, remaining available for each participant to find the best settings of your equipment in view of the dense photo sessions scheduled.

The session will then continue until sunset (around 8 p.m.)
08:30 PM.: Dinner with the group and overnight stay. 

DAY5

07.30 AM: Breakfast at the hotel and editing lesson. We will have a long post-production session where we will observe the main techniques to be used on

Photoshop, Lightroom and Camera Raw to manage lights, shadows, contrasts, atmosphere, detail and so on.  We will dedicate this morning observing together the shots taken to date,

comparing ourselves and talking about cataloging the files and how to choose the perfect file to post-produce. Anyone will be able to show their images and talk about their photos. The two professional photographers will remain available for any questions and to help you find your best photographs.

11.00 AM: End of activities, greetings and transfer to Lubiana airport.

During this itinerary you can observe animals at all distances, so a 70-200mm can already be enough to give satisfaction. Despite this for portrait lovers the advice is to bring with you a focal length of at least 300mm. A medium-long lens and a wide angle can be useful if you are interested in photographing Slovenian landscapes and forests.

If you want to participate but don’t have the right equipment, don’t worry. We offer the possibility to rent high-quality cameras and lenses, specially chosen for the event.
There are no deposits or restrictions to consider.
