/ IBERIAN LYNX TOUR 2024

You will visit the wonderful lands of Spain, on the northern slopes of the Sierra Morena and the Sierra de Andujar Nature Park. These places are the kingdom of one of the highest concentrations of the Iberian lynx in the Iberian Peninsula.

This amazing feline is among the most threatened in the world, but thanks to the combined efforts to safeguard its habitat and manage the population of wild rabbits, the main source of food (they make up 90% of its diet), the Iberian lynx is slowly returning to populate these territories. A few decades ago, when only 94 individuals had survived, today, thanks to conservation actions, the population already exceeds 1000 lynxes.

Get ready to take unforgettable photos, immerse yourself in the success story of this conservation project, and experience a unique experience of witnessing the rebirth of an endangered species.

The lands we will visit, during the hot summer season, contain an inestimable treasure: water. Small water holes scattered throughout the territory offer hope of survival for hundreds of wild animals.

It will be six intense days, focused on these precious pools of water, where waiting patiently we will have the unique opportunity to spot the lynx, an elusive and threatened feline, in total respect for the surrounding nature. Thanks to the exclusive access to underground photo huts, we will be able to observe and immortalize this magnificent animal without disturbing its natural environment, with perfect shooting angles.

Each hide overlooks a water hole, an oasis of life where the lynx and many other species go to quench their thirst on hot summer days. With a little luck we could witness the parental care of the lynx, experiencing exciting moments of observation.

But the lynx will not be the only protagonist of this extraordinary adventure. We will also have the opportunity to admire a wide variety of bird species such as woodpeckers, partridges, owls and many others, in addition to the small mammals that populate the region, such as the wild rabbit.

Our goal is to live a unique experience, in harmony with nature, without disturbing the fragile balance of the animals and the surrounding environment. The Iberian lynx will be the centerpiece of this extraordinary adventure, a species fascinating for its history and the ecology that surrounds it.

Regardless of your level of experience, the professional photographer will guide you and give you direct feedback to help you grow as a photographer, making this photographic experience even more meaningful. This learning opportunity will make your photographic journey unforgettable and provide you with skills that you can apply in the future.

Difficulty level: SIMPLE.

There are no demanding excursions; the walks will be short and on flat ground.

Immerse yourself in an unprecedented photographic experience with 8 exciting photographic activities that will take place within our exclusive hides, specially designed and built to meet the needs of every nature photographer. Every detail has been carefully taken care of to ensure a perfect scenery, natural settings and impeccable light.

The hides we will visit have been studied in detail:

1. 4 mm thick anti-reflective glass (one millimeter less than common solutions), through which you can observe animals from sometimes derisory distances, maintaining a perfect reproduction of the details and colors in your photos. This glass allows you to capture stunning images without the animals perceiving your presence.
2. Underground hides: this allows us to have a perfect shooting point for our photos, also guaranteeing an excellent rendering of the backgrounds.
3. Freedom of movement: You can position your tripod and follow the animals with your lens without being noticed in the slightest.

Each hide has a capacity of 2-3 seats with chairs, allowing us to divide the group and occupy the best locations (based on the activity of the animals).

N.B. All flight details and detailed program information will be given after registration.

DAY 1: Arrival in Madrid

Meeting with the tour leader at Madrid- Barajas International Airport, presentations and transfer to the hotel. After about 2 hours by car we will reach the small town where we will stay these days and we can all rest and have dinner together.

DAY 2/5: Hides Full immersion 

06.00 am: In a few minutes by car we will be in the area of the hides where we will divide going to occupy our stations.

10.00 am: End of the morning photo session and return to the hotel. Here we will have the opportunity to spend a few hours of rest in total relaxation and silence.

12.30/13.00: Lunch at the hotel with typical products. A few more hours of relaxation after lunch will follow to rest and prepare their own photographic equipment.

6 p.m.: Departure for the photo hides. In a few minutes by car we will be in the area of the hides where we will divide ourselves by going to occupy our stations.

10 p.m.: End of photo sessions, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Every day we will decide with you which hides to visit and how to divide the group, so that each of you can visit the different locations.

DAY 6 – Departure to Madrid Airport

9.30-10.00 am: Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the airport.

On this tour, all photographic activities will take place inside the photo hides, offering you the opportunity to observe the animals from extremely close distances, sometimes even between 4 and 5 meters.

To better capture the details and essence of these fascinating animals, we recommend using SLR, mirrorless or bridge cameras, equipped with lenses between 200mm and 500mm. This range of focal lengths will allow you to get sharp images with the right aspect ratio!

Inside the hides, the use of an tripod will be essential. The tripod will help you keep the image stable, allowing for longer shutter speeds without the risk of problems. In addition, you will be able to compose your photos accurately and make detailed adjustments.

During these days you will have an experienced professional photographer at your disposal who will assist you in optimizing the use of your photographic instrumentation.

The professional photographer will be there to offer you personalized advice and help you make the most of the potential of your camera and lenses. You’ll have the opportunity to learn advanced dialing techniques, light control, camera settings, and more.
